Danish Twist is yet to make an appearance at the races this year but remains an outright $3.90 favourite in 2017 Breeders’ Classic betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Egyptian Symbol ($4.60) and clear market mover Flippant ($5).

Will Danish Twist justify favouritism and win the 2017 Breeders’ Classic, or will one of her talented rivals post an upset win?

Egyptian Symbol ($4.60)

Egyptian Symbol will have a fitness edge on a good portion of the Breeders’ Classic field and represents terrific value for money at her current odds. Posting five wins and a further six minors through fourteen career starts so far, the Stratum mare resumed in spring for a smart win in the Group 3 Nivison Stakes (1200m), but received a freshen-up when she failed to fire and fifth in the Group 3 Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (1400m) on Melbourne Cup Day. Resuming for a smart win in the Wyong Magic Millions 3&4YO Guineas (1200m) on December 22nd, Egyptian Symbol was unable to match the late pace when sixth in the Magic Millions Plate (1300m) on January 14th but is reportedly primed for a strong performance in the Breeders’ Classic.

Tsaritsa ($12)

Four-year-old Tsaritsa has not been seen at the races since early spring, but is weighted well, drawn ideally and undoubtedly over the 2017 Breeders Classic odds at her current quote. Tsaritsa has been a strong and consistent performer throughout her entire racing career so far, but announced herself to the great Australian racing community via a 2016 winter campaign highlighted by a smart win in the Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) and third in the Listed Daybreak Lover Stakes (1400m). James Doyle will take the ride on the daughter of Dane Shadow, who is more than worth consideration for a bet.

Danish Twist ($3.90)

Danish Twist is arguably the class horse of the 2017 Breeders’ Classic field and that is sure to count for a lot first-up on Saturday. Stamping herself as a serious prospect for Kris Lees last autumn, Danish Twist posted four-consecutive wins which included each of the Provincial Championship Final (1400m), Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) and Listed June Stakes (1100m) most notably. Running on well for third in the talent-rich Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) first-up in spring, the Dane Shadow mare was unable to make much of an impact through her next two starts, but has trialled well leading into the Breeders Classic 2017.
