Track Conditions Could Hinder Leading Breeders Classic Contenders

February 5th, 2016

Co-trainer Paul Snowden has been thrilled with the condition of both Dublin Lass and I’ve Got The Looks in the lead-up to Saturday’s Group 2 Breeders’ Classic (1200m) at Royal Randwick, but is concerned the potential condition of the Randwick track will not suit the talented stable mates.

Dublin Lass has posted an impressive seven wins and five minors through only seventeen career starts so far but has not been seen at the races since finishing fifth in the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m) on December 12th.

I’ve Got The Looks has secured a similarly-impressive record of eight wins and six minors through 23 career starts and has returned to racing in competitive form this time; placing third in the Listed Canterbury Classic (1200m) before running a credible fifth in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) most recently on January 8th.

Snowden is pleased with both horses but concedes they may not be suited to Randwick on Saturday should inclement weather not clear.

“Both of them are subject to hopefully a track improve,” Snowden told Racing Ahead.

“They’re not ideally suited to a bogged track but this wind has been quiet strong of late and hopefully it will dry out.”

While confident both horses will lay good accounts for themselves in the 2016 Breeders’ Classic, Snowden favours Dublin Lass as the stable’s best chance of success in the race.

“Dublin Lass is really well, her fresh form speaks for itself and she’s been prepared really nicely,” Snowden said.

“She looks great in herself and I think she’ll run a very good race.”

Dublin Lass will leave from the outsider barrier 7 with leading hoop James McDonald in the saddle and is currently available at 2016 Breeders’ Classic odds of $2.20 for success with leading online bookie

I’ve Got The Looks will carry a very-manageable 54kgs from barrier 5 with Brenton Avdulla aboard and represents terrific value for money at a Breeders Classic odds of $4.20 for success.
