Chris Waller has dominated this race through recent years and is offered a great chance of continuing the record after including Amicus in Breeders’ Classic nominations.

A Group 1 winner having taken out the 2014 edition of the Thousand Guineas (1600m), Amicus returned during the recent Spring Carnival for consecutive wins in the Group 3 Toy Show Quality (1300m) and Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m).

While failing to make anything of an impact in either of the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) or Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m), the classy daughter of Fastnet Rock returned to the paddock after running on for a credible fifth in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) on October 31st.

Peter and Paul Snowden are set to launch a multi-pronged attack on the 2016 Breeders Classic after including both Dublin Lass and I’ve Got The Looks in nominations.

Posting seven wins and five minors through eighteen career starts so far, Dublin Lass was a strong and consistent performer through a short spring campaign; running second in the Group 3 Mumm Stakes (1100m) and winning the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) before finishing fifth in the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m) last time out.

I’ve Got The Looks has returned in good form this time and should prove tough to beat in her return to mares’ company in the Breeders’ Classic.

Finishing outside the first three only a handful of times through 23 career starts, the daughter of Choisir placed third in the Listed Canterbury Classic (1200m) on Boxing Day; progressing to fifth in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) last time out on January 8th.

Several interstate raiders have been included in 2016 Breeders’ Classic nominations including exciting Queensland mare Miss Cover Girl.

Miss Cover Girl was the stable star for veteran trainer Kelly Schweida in 2015 and appears to be on her way back to similar form this time.

Winning the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Day 1 of The Championships, the Monashee Mountain mare continued to impress through the Brisbane Winter Carnival and a short spring preparation, and placed third in the Listed Nudgee Handicap (1200m) most recently on January 23rd.

The 2016 Breeders Classic final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
