Despite a short campaign, Streama well and truly showed her worth over the 2013 Spring Carnival; bookending runners-up tags in both the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Star Epsom Handicap (1600m) with a resounding victory in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m).

Trainer Guy Walter claimed the Group 2 Expressway Stakes at Randwick with Appearance last weekend and is confident of adding a second Group 2 title in as many weeks with the Stratum mare on Saturday.

Having also included Streama in nominations for the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes at Flemington on Saturday, Walter appears likely to keep the five-year-old in Sydney for her first-up event of 2014.

Having claiming five wins from as many starts to date, classy runner White Sage has also been included in nominations for the 2014 Breeders’ Classic.

Closing her 2013 Spring campaign with a comfortable victory in the Listed Stanley Dewalt Festival Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill, White Sage will face undoubtedly her biggest test so far having never lined up for a race at Group level prior to this weekend.

Trainer John O’Shea has outlined the Group 1 Doncaster Handicap (1600m) and Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1500m) in April as the major targets of White Sage this campaign, and is confident in the abilities of his young star first-up.

Red Tracer will be looking to build on a successful 2013 Spring Carnival when taking to the track for the first time competitively in 2014, after also being included in Breeders’ Cup nominations.

In only three starts throughout the 2013 spring, the Dane Shadow mare followed up a strong third in the Group 3 Golden Pendant (1400m) with victory in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) before blowing away the field in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) to close the memorable campaign.

Having beaten Streama in that most recent event, trainer Chris Waller is confident the talented six-year-old can immediately pick up where she left off in 2014 following two strong barrier trials this preparation.
