Superstar More Joyous Wins 2011 Breeders Classic

February 15th, 2011

The 2011 Breeders Classic was won convincingly by superstar mare More Joyous at Randwick Racecourse on February 12, 2011.

Gai Waterhouse’s four-year-old mare made the race look easy when she blitzed the field by a remarkable two and a half lengths.

David Pfieffer’s Graceful Anna ran a good race for second, while John Thompson’s No Evidence Needed finished up the trifecta in third.

More Joyous had a seamless run, jumping well from the barriers and settling into a comfortable position behind stablemate Montana Flyer.

More Joyous was eased up on the line by jockey Nash Rawiller, winning the race in a time (1:08.60), just outside the race record.

Gai Waterhouse commented that after her mare’s brilliant win they will be heading down to Melbourne where More Joyous will be appearing very shortly.

More Joyous is currently nominated for the $1 million Group 1 Newmarket Handicap on March 12, 2011.

More Joyous has now won 11 of 15 career starts and has accrued total prize money of $1,533,500.
